Chepstow’s St Pierre, A Marriott Hotel and Country Club, has raised £2142 for Cancer Research Wales after naming them their charity of the year.

The donation followed a month’s worth of support – in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month – including donations of 50p from every cup of coffee sold in their Zest Bar (totalling £1,226) and the sale of pin badges (adding £174 to the grand total).

Associates also donned the famous pink Cancer Research Wales t-shirts in recognition of the cause.

The month of giving culminated with an elegant afternoon tea, with guests invited to the 14th century manor to sample the pink-themed cakes and enjoy the afternoon entertainment, including a live pianist and magician.

Designer goods – such as a Giorgio Armani overnight bag and a Cavalli wash bag – were also offered as raffle prizes to the guests, as well as a crystal necklace and dinner for two at St Pierre.

Director of sales at St Pierre, Robin Craine, said: “It is an honour to support such a worthy charity, and one that is close to so many people’s hearts.

“We know how vital these donations are to Cancer Research Wales, and hope we can add to this impressive figure with our month long support.”

“It has been a pleasure working alongside the Cancer Research Wales team throughout this partnership, and as always we wish them the best of luck with all their future fundraising and research.”

Laura Hooper, Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research Wales, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the brilliant support from the team at St Pierre.

They have gone above and beyond what we could have expected; particularly with the afternoon tea!  Not only did they donate 100% of ticket sales to us, but they have also helped organise the event, as well as covered the cost of the afternoon tea itself.

“Cancer affects so many people, and we cannot thank St Pierre enough for helping to fund our pioneering research projects right here in Wales.”
